Gold Obsidian is a type of obsidian which occurs when gas bubbles from the original lava flow are trapped in the obsidian as it is forming. The impurities of the gasses cause a golden sheen to occur, giving the obsidian a golden appearance. It is also called the “wizard stone” because it has been used since ancient times in many magical practices. Polished Obsidian mirrors were used for scrying and Nostradamus it is reputed to have used a Black Obsidian sphere for scrying.
